We believe that when Adam sinned it separated him and consequently the whole world from God. The Bible teaches us that sin separates us from God. Through the ages, a blood sacrifice was required to “cover” the sins of the people. But the blood of an animal sacrifice was only temporary.
In the book of Isaiah chapter 53 and verse 5 we find this declaration:
“But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”
This scripture is referring to the death of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The blood that Jesus shed was just what we needed. The Apostle Paul writing to the Ephesian church in Eph 1:7 said:
“In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;”
The only requirement is our obedience to the Word of God.
Peter after preaching to the people in Jerusalem on the Day of Pentecost (which celebrated the beginning of the harvest fifty days after the Passover), was asked what they should do. Peter’s response is recorded in the book of ACTS chapter 2 and verse 38 & 39:
“38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.” [Acts 2:38-39]
* Repentance means “a turning away from”. In this case, it is turning away from a life of sin. In repentance, we ask God to forgive us of our sins (this is heartfelt).
Baptism is important. The Bible tells us:
“4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Â 5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:” [Romans 6:4-5]
The Gift Of The Holy Ghost – Jesus spoke of a Comforter that He would send after he was gone from this world.
“7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.” [John 16:7]
This comforter is the Holy Ghost. Jesus again made reference in the Book of Acts chapter 1 and verse 5 saying “…but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence” [Acts 1:5]. On the Day of Pentecost, this promise was received by those who were praying and seeking the face of the Lord in the upper room in Jerusalem.
The promise is for you and your children. God has more in store for your life than you could ever imagine! Come and visit us, it WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE!
